4. TRACK WIDTH MINE PLOUGH (TWMP) FOR ARJUN MBT MK-II

The TWMP(A) gives a tank the ability to rapidly force a passage through mined obstacles by creating a cleared path for its tracks to follow. Mine Plough is a Tank mounted device, designed to clear a lane through a mine field, allowing other tanks to follow. Buried land mines are ploughed up and pushed outside the tank's track path or turned over. The TWMP is a self-contained unit.

The TWMP (A) is designed to:

  • Clear mines from the track width of the vehicle
  • Operate in a wide range of soils
  • Minimize the tractive effort required
  • Minimize the effects of detonating mines
  • Jettison from under armour if the need arise
  • Be used in conjunction with Demeter Magnetic Signature Duplicator (MSD) systems.
5. MINE PLOUGHS – T90

Mine Plough meets the demands of the modern Main Battle Tank (MBT) by creating a cleared safe lane. Mine Plough is designed to remove mines irrespective of fusing type from the track of the host vehicle and gives a tank the ability to protect itself from the threat of surface laid or buried AT or AP mines.

The mine free path is prepared by a raking action that brings buried or concealed mines to the surface and moves them to the side. To achieve the necessary raking action, tines move through the soil at a constant depth. The geometry of the T-90 EMP and skids provide the depth control means.

Mine plough is a self contained unit.It can be mounted directly to the front of host vehicle and requires power from tank electrical system. Mine plough can be raised to the travelling position or lowered to ploughing position using electro-hydraulic power pack and hydraulic lift cylinders. Mine plough is operated using a Driver Control Unit mounted within easy reach of the tank in closed down condition.

6. TRAWL

TRAWL is a demining device mounted on a T-72 tank, designed to detonate anti-tank mines. It allows engineers to clear a lane through a minefield which is protected by enemy fire. TRAWL is a combination of roller & plough type. The roller clears the mines by exerting heavy pressure on the buried mines in vehicle run condition and detonates them. The roller absorbs the blast pressure and keeps the tank safe from mines. Parallely mine plough clears the buried mines by digging in the soil along the vehicle path. TRAWL is used in Plain, Desert & Semi-Desert terrain conditions.

7. SURACE MINE CLEAR SYSTEM PLOUGH (SMCS)
  • SMCS gives a host vehicle the ability to safely clear surface laid mines and munitions on roads and light terrain.
  • The mine free path is prepared by a vee blade that moves mines from the front of the vehicle safely to each side, well clear of the vehicle tracks.
  • To achieve the necessary action, the vee blade is divided into several blade segments, each of which is free to move in response to ground contours.
  • The blade linkages are arranged so that if a scraping edge should encounter an immovable vertical sided obstacle then the blade moves against its spring and rides over the obstruction while retaining full contact
