The fundamental role of an Armoured Recovery and Repair Vehicle (ARRV) is to recover disabled combat tanks and take them to a place, where they can be repaired and replenished to be ready for battle again. Each individual tank is an important combat asset and keeping it battle-fit at the right location is a major logistic effort.

Arjun ARRVs are built as variants of Main Battle Tanks - Arjun MBT. Main automotive components and sub-systems are virtually identical to the battle tank. This commonality ensures simplified spares inventory and crew training leading to easier and more efficient logistics. The ARRV is a highly dedicated vehicle and has no armament other than a 12.5 mm AD Gun and crew weapons for local defense.

ARRV is powered by 1400 hp diesel engine with fully automatic transmission. ARRV consist of major recovery systems driven by hydraulic power 

  • Main Winch - 50 tonne Double capstan-type,
  • Auxiliary winch - 2 tonne Double capstan-type,
  • Crane  - 20 tonne with 3m working radius,
  • Anchor-cum-Dozer 

Vehicle has all major repair facilities like welding, drilling, cutting, grinding, air compressor etc powered by 15 kVA APU.

ARRV is equipped with Digital Control Harness (DCH) and other advanced communication system along with Advanced Land Navigation System (ALNS) & GPSMAP 78sc hand held navigation device. Vehicle is integrated with highly precise vision system like periscopes, episcopes and night vision for driver and commander.

Vehicle has crew protection systems like NBC and instant fire suppression system.

2. Wheeled Infantry Combat Vehicle (WICV)

This Wheeled Infantry Combat Amphibious vehicle based on 8x8 chassis are designed as heavy-duty vehicles designated for hard terrain, difficult climatic and environment conditions. The all-wheel drive chassis employs independent suspension and backbone tube frame. The unique feature of this vehicle is that it allows each wheel to move independently with improved steering and maximum tire to ground contact. Battle proven 30mm Canon Gun with Armaments of BMP Tank will be integrated on 8x8 chassis through Monocoque Hull Structure meeting the armour protection to STANAG 4569 levels for ballistic and blast.

155mm / 52 CAL Dhanush gun which is successfully tested is being mounted on BEML 8X8 heavy duty truck. The project is being jointly executed by BEML and Gun Carriage Factory (GCF). MGS will be employed in plains, semi desert and desert terrain for execution of Artillery tasks. Superstructure on 8x8 vehicle is being indigenously designed and developed for pay load of 20 tonnes.

4. Medium Bullet Proof Vehicle (MBPV) 4X4

MBPV is a blast protected and bullet proof vehicle which conceal crew and troops from Ballistic Arm Fire, Hand Grenades, and Fragment Simulated Projectiles etc.  With survivability as major objective carries troops to operate in counter-Insurgency environment.

  • Monocoque hull with V-shaped underbelly design to deflect blasts out and away from crew and troops.

  • 4x4 vehicle with unparalleled mobility developed on BEML back bone chassis frame and semi articulated axles.
  • High power to weight ratio with Electronic Water Cooled Engine and Automatic transmission.
  • CTIS and Run Flat Tyres to enhance mobility thereby survivability.
  • Power Steering and Combination suspension – semi articulated axles, torsion bars, air bellows and hydraulic shock absorbers.
